UISEE's L4 UiBox Autonomous Delivery Vehicle launched “last-mile” unmanned delivery on open roads for the KAUST community, allowing residents to retrieve packages via SMS or touchscreen.

Background

In 2022, the autonomous delivery vehicle jointly built by UISEE and Teksbotics (Asia) Ltd was deployed in Saudi Arabia, launching commercial autonomous delivery services for the "last mile" at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) community. Residents could retrieve packages via SMS or the vehicle's touchscreen.

Challenges

Saudi Arabia's "last mile" delivery relied on manual labor, with insufficient efficiency and convenience.

Required adaptation to open-road scenarios with high demands on delivery safety and autonomous interaction capabilities.

Impact

Enabled commercial autonomous last-mile delivery services — local residents could retrieve packages via SMS or the vehicle's touchscreen.
