Haikou Meilan International Airport

UISEE's Autonomous Shuttle Bus B22 and Autonomous Electric Tractor T30 helped Haikou Meilan International Airport build the world’s first dual-terminal, full-scenario unmanned model airport covering both passenger transfer and cargo transport.

Background

Haikou Meilan International Airport is the core hub of Hainan Free Trade Port, tasked with serving 35 million annual passengers and 400,000 tons of cargo and mail throughput. With the Phase 2 "dual terminals, dual runways" now fully operational, traditional manual operations have struggled to meet demands for efficiency, low carbon, and safety. UISEE and Meilan International Airport have established a strategic pertnership, deploying the L4 Autonomous Shuttle Bus B22 and the aviation logistics Autonomous Electric Tractor project.

Challenges

Operational Efficiency Bottleneck: Peak-hour passenger transit, baggage sorting, and cargo transport rely on manual operations, with slow response and high labor costs; inter-terminal coordination is complex with inefficient resource allocation.

Safety and Reliability Pressure: Manual operations are susceptible to fatigue and emotional factors, creating elevated safety risks. Extreme weather (such as Hainan's typhoon season) threatens transport continuity.

Solution

2023: Deployed 1 L4 Autonomous Shuttle Bus B22, focused on passenger transit scenarios and adapted to dual-terminal operational needs, upgrading the airport's passenger transportation service to autonomous operations.

2026: Deployed 3 Autonomous Electric Tractor T30, launched in February 2026, opening 4 cargo transport routes and achieving 7×24 uninterrupted operations, completing full-process tasks including cargo transport and empty return along optimal routes.

Impact

Through deep "technology + scenario" integration, UISEE and Haikou Meilan International Airport will drive airport operations from "labor-intensive" to "intelligence-driven," building the world's first "dual-terminal full-scenario unmanned" model airport and supporting Hainan Free Trade Port construction.
